About Storeplay Radio

What is Storeplay Radio? Storeplay Radio is a fully licensed music subscription built for commercial spaces - retail, hospitality, fitness, banking and more. You choose curated channels that fit your brand, schedule them by time of day, day of week or location, and we deliver the right sound to every store, around the clock. Manage it all from one dashboard, on desktop or mobile.

How does it work? Choose the channels that fit each store and we handle the rest. With the Storeplayer or the Storeplay Radio app installed, music downloads and stores locally on the device, so it keeps playing reliably even if the store’s internet drops. You pay one flat monthly fee per store.

How much does it cost?

  • Storeplay Radio Lite - 1 x 24-hour channel - $40 per store, per month
  • Storeplay Radio - unlimited 24-hour channels - $65 per store, per month

All fees are GST inclusive. Running more than 50 stores? Email support@storeplay.io and we’ll put a quote together.

Can I get a custom playlist? Yes. We build curated custom playlists around your brand. Email support@storeplay.io to talk it through.

Where is Storeplay Radio available? Across Australia and New Zealand. Our Licence-free channels can be used anywhere in the world.

How often do channels update? Every month.

Who curates the music? Our in-house curation team, who come from across the music industry. They keep each channel fresh and right for the room.

Is Storeplay Radio legal? Yes, fully. We work directly with the labels that represent the artists and writers, and we pay royalties on every track in our programs. Separately, your business needs to pay One Music public performance fees - the standard music licence for playing music in a commercial space.

What are public performance fees, and why do I pay them? Playing copyright-protected music in a business needs a licence. Buying a CD or paying for a consumer streaming account doesn’t cover you - that’s personal use, not commercial. Almost any business playing copyright music or music videos in public needs the right licence first.

We can fold these licences into your monthly subscription - just tick the box when you set up your account. In Australia and New Zealand they’re paid through One Music:

  • One Music (AU): https://www.onemusic.com.au/
  • One Music NZ: https://www.onemusicnz.com/

What are One Music Partial-Rights Channels? These channels use music licensed through international record companies not affiliated with One Music. They suit restaurants, cafes and venues that want to avoid the full One Music public performance fee - they only need One Music’s Partial Rights fee.

What are Cafe Channels? Cafe channels are sourced entirely from original artists under a licensing deal with Universal Music. They need both the Cafe Licensing Fee and One Music’s Partial Rights fee, rather than the full One Music public performance fee.

What are Licence-free Channels? No One Music fees apply. These suit venues with simpler background music needs.

Do I own the songs I download? No. Storeplay Radio is a subscription, so you have access to the music while your subscription is active.

Can I use Storeplay Radio if I’m not a business? No. Under our Terms and Conditions, Storeplay Radio is for commercial use only.
